Daily Routine for Oily Skin - Feel Confident in Your Own Skin

Updated: Feb 24, 2022

Oily skin can be a nuisance. The constant blotting becomes a force of habit and makeup smudges make for a mess. People with oily or combination complexions are prone to breakouts and large pores (which can become clogged with sebum), only making the situation less tolerable.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to oily skin. Hormonal fluctuations, stress, and even the weather can cause oily skin. Those humid days wreak havoc! You can also thank your mom or dad, as genetics plays a role as well.

Feeling self-conscious isn’t fun. Confidence comes from inside, but when we can’t put our best face forward, we don’t reveal our true selves.

Don’t let oily skin stop you from being fearless. You can improve your skin with a daily routine that’s simple and straightforward. With regular practice, you’ll minimize that oily appearance, and better looking skin will shine through…in a good way!

Follow these tips to get your skin looking spectacular.

Use a Gentle Face Wash

You may be inclined to choose a strong face wash to combat the oiliness, but gentler cleansers are better for balancing your skin.

Look for products which are non-clogging and non-comedogenic. Cleansers with benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid will fight oil without over drying.

Removing all the oil from your skin will only make it produce more. You’ll wind up in an unpleasant cycle that can irritate your skin. Remember, some oil on your skin is important. You want to keep your skin moist, keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Skin that is too dry can flake and crack, often feeling uncomfortably tight.

Apply your cleanser lightly (don’t scrub), and rinse with cool or lukewarm water (not hot). Pat dry with a clean towel. Once in the morning and once before bedtime should do the trick.

Apply Sunscreen

Adding a layer of sunscreen to your oily skin is probably the last thing you want to do, but all skin types need to be protected. There are oil-free SPF products that won’t make your skin look or feel greasy.

And yes, you can also use moisturizer. Find one that doesn’t contain ingredients including mineral oil, paraffin, caster oil, lanolin, or petroleum jelly. Fragrance-free is a wise idea as well. These ingredients can contribute to clogged pores and acne overload.

Choose a water-based sunscreen or lotion so it will glide on smoothly and stay put.

Primer Makes Perfect!

When you’ve taken care of your skin by cleaning it gently and keeping it protected from the elements, you’ll be primed for an ideal makeup application. Most makeup just melts over oily skin, requiring regular reapplication, and lots of blotting and powdering. This takes time and isn’t good for your skin.

Long-lasting makeup is achievable! The Fia Air Primer is a revolutionary gadget that goes above and beyond the limits of traditional liquid primers. Without harsh chemicals, this 15-second solution reduces the oil on your skin. No more smudges or excess shine. And the more you use the Fia Air Primer, the less oil you’ll see on the surface of your skin. Give it two weeks and you’ll see.

Oily skin doesn’t have to be such a bummer. Daily care and consistency will lead to skin that’s ready for a close-up!
